Dieting is easy. It's like riding a bike. And the bike is on fire. And the ground is on fire. And everything is on fire, because you are in hell.
Children need to learn to take responsibility for their actions so that they do not become adults believing that nothing is ever their fault.
God has a purpose for your pain, a reason for your struggles and a reward for your faithfulness. Don't give up!

Missionary updates
Kieren has completed her mission. Here is a clip from her last letter.
I think a scripture that really sums up my mission is Mosiah 5:2. I thank Heavenly Father so much for molding me into who I am now and showing me that I can become even more.
We got to go to the temple yesterday which was one of the moments of greatest happiness that I have ever experienced in my life.
My time is short here, but know I love being a missionary. I love my Savior and I am so grateful for everything he has done for me.
FAMILY UPDATES--
BIG NEWS--Dan Smith was called today to be Bishop of his ward. I think extra prayers his direction would be appreciated.

From Asialene and Davis--(written about a month ago....)Rockwell is 2 1/2 months and a very easy baby. He is smiling and cooing a lot and really good in his car seat, so running errands during the day and driving the girls to their activities after school isn't bad. Thank goodness! He wakes up once or twice at night, which is manageable for me because I have had worse! It's just me and him at home during the day and I absolutely love it. I get to enjoy him all to myself while things are peaceful and quiet, and before the chaos of homework, dinner and extra curricular activities begin.
Davis is having a great time running his new business. He has an amazing teamdfdd. They are working on some fun new products and continue to run Questivals. His office is 5 minutes from our house, which allows him more family time. He is a big help with Rockwell and is always excited to see him when he gets home.
Savanna is loving middle school. So far this school year she has done a hip hop dance class and a volleyball class. She will be 12 in April and will be in Young Women's!
Makenna's number one passion is gymnastics. She also does dance and piano. She always looks forward to Activity Days. She is very social and is always having playdates with different classmates and church friends.
Rachel and Greg--Clara turned one on April 17th! It is a crazy milestone in our lives. There's a few other people living here in Troy, AL, so we invited them to a little birthday party for her. I decided to try my hand at some Pinteresty things, which really isn't my forte. But most of it turned out. I'm most proud of the cake. I did a couple trial runs but they never made it to the decorating stage. It was a long shot; in the end it looked just like I wanted and it was delicious too.
Cara and Barry--lots of fun posts. I'll start with the pictures and posts of Ryan and Liams weddings since she is the only person from that entire huge family who sent and pictures or reports of the wedding. Alas.
Took a quick trip to Utah for a couple weddings...
My youngest brother Liam and his girl Shaila had their reception just a couple hours after we
drove into town. We cleaned up quick after our long car drive and thoroughly enjoyed the party. :)
The next morning, Liam and Shaila were married for time and all eternity in the
Salt Lake City temple. We showed up a little early and enjoyed Temple Square as a family.
The kids were blown away by the beauty of Temple Square.
So glad we were running early!
Then it was picture time! This is my parents with all of their grandkids. Twenty!
We snatched a few pics of Uncle Liam and little Liam.
Hyrum and Powell were little buddies, exploring and escaping together.
few days later, Ryan and Abby were married (also at the Salt Lake Temple)...
Such a beautiful couple!
We did most of the pictures that evening at the reception.
Our family, the little boy cousins, and by 5 brothers.
We had a great time visiting...it was a very beautiful reception center.
We stayed for about half of the reception and then had to get on the road back home.
Eventful (but quick) trip!
We received a package from family in NYC. Included were some random chopsticks.
Turns out, Severin wanted to send us a little bit of New York City
(along with the allotted package from Lissa)
and all he could find at his desk at work was several sets of chopsticks.
So I made Mongolian Beef and we used our NYC chopsticks.
The kids loved it.
Hyrum was fascinated.
Amalie gave it a good try.
Hallie refused to be photographed.
Liam was a trooper and stuck with it.
Ethan tried for about a minute.
And then transformed the chopsticks into spears.
Typical.
Hyrum's great brain continues to amaze me.
He found this shape game in the basement and wanted to try it.
I thought it was way above his level. Apparently not.
He did this by himself while I was in the other room.
He's 2 1/2.
He's a little genius.
Hallie would like to announce:
NO MORE BRACES!!!
Barry and I had a great time bowling on Valentine's Day...something we don't do very often (surprisingly since Barry grew up bowling...like legitimately...on leagues and everything.)
Apparently he still has it. He bowled a 225. That's a whole lot of strikes people.
And, by the way, I was proud of my 83. :)
As a side note...the couple bowling next to us also had a Barry. Very random.
When he saw how awesome my Barry was, he asked permission to take a
picture of our screen so he could send it to his friends as his. :) Awesome.
Liam turned 12!
The Sunday after his birthday, he received the priesthood and was ordained a deacon.
And about a week and a half after his birthday, Barry and I took him (and Hallie) to the temple.
It was Liam's first time going in and performing ordinances.
It was awesome to do together as a family!
Katie and Connor-She sent an list of the 10 ten events of the month (she does this each month,) so I will include a few of them.

Emmeline dressed up for Easter (a week early because of General Conference).
Natalie and Kenny--bought their first house. It's a townhouse in a fabulous community about 30 minutes north of us. We helped them move all their stuff into the house yesterday.
This weekend, Mariah Smith (Dave and Carol's) came to DC on a choir trip. Early one morning, Natalie and Kenny and kids met up with her at her hotel.
From Megan (& Timm)'s blog--
Here are Megan's kids all dressed up for Easter (a week early because of General Conference).
Kelli & kids came to visit during Easter time. Megan writes, "The kids had to do a scavenger hunt to find their Easter baskets which were all buckled into seats in the van. They thought it was hilarious. The rest of the day was filled with candy, conference, egg hunts, and playing outside. We had dyed eggs the day before and having 6 kids under the age of 9 dyeing eggs all at the same time was almost more than Kelli and I could handle. Phew. Glad it's over with! The kids sure loved it though and didn't care that we made their eggs into deviled eggs and egg salad sandwiches in the next couple of days."
Harrison has been busy recently. In February, he won his school's Tri-Star basketball competition. During that month, he also wrote his own book for school entitled "The Nearly Impossible Quest." In March, he participated in the pinewood derby and received his Bear in Cub Scouts (finished all the requirements in 6 months!). In early April, Harrison presented in the Young Chautauqua event in their town. He had to write a 2 minute speech and present it in character (he was dressed as Jedediah Smith). Megan writes, "After the speech, the audience could ask questions about the characters. [Harrison] did an excellent job! He refused to practice his speech in front of Timm and I, so the first time we heard it was when he performed in front of a bunch of strangers at the little historical house. We were both impressed! He not only had his speech memorized, but he put emotion in it and he knew the answers to the questions asked at the end."
Stuart wrote a little while ago--Oh, the drawbacks of living in Port Angeles.
I had to mow the lawn in February and now again in March. Fortunately only once each month.
We often have visitors in our yard; deer, raccoons, sometimes coyotes, etc. But it's been 20 years since elk came wandering in the yard. Until this afternoon. Shar grabbed a couple of photos for you to see.
Tax season has passed the point; the point of "enough already"! 3 weeks to go.
My health ? Feeling good, no problems that I am aware of. I go in May 6th for a new PSA test, then meet with the oncologist. Until then, I have no limitations.
Life is good ! I'm really enjoying my 10-11 year old primary class and my 11 year old scouts. It's a great calling for me. Last Sunday I realized that it's been a while with this calling - one of my scouts was blessing the sacrament. :)
Thats all the news I found today. I hope I didnt miss anyone/anything.
Keep sending news....
Work hard, study hard, pray hard,
Carol
