Missionary updates
Liam in Madagascar-- a good thought--O God, Aaron hath told me that there is a God; and if there is a God, and if thou art God, wilt thou make thyself known unto me, and I will give away all my sins to know thee, and that I may be raised from the dead, and be saved at the last day. And now when the king had said these words, he was struck aas if he were dead.
I love the kings words, "I will give away all my sins." As read this over a year ago it really struck me and as we taught this brother I thought of this scripture. It was clear that despite his faithfulness and good desires he was still holding on to this sin. It is a still a fall-back. When we are truly repentant we give away our sins to Christ. We let them go. Forget them. Forsake them. That is a huge part of repentance. It is true repentance. Once you do that you won't go back.
Cameron in California -We had a zone review and I got a flu shot, despite my protests. All in all a normal week, until I fell off my bed Saturday morning at 6:30 with what has now been classified as benign vertigo, or something like that. Basically I am nauseous when I am upright, but I have some meds and it is slowly going away. It is not too fun and really hard to go work. But all things can be over come. It is getting better.
Kieren in Brazil- I was reading this week from the Book of Mormon in First Nephi chapters 10 and 11. It is cool how Nephi, when he is asked what he wants by the angel, always knows exactly what to ask for and knows the desires of his heart. God is willing to give us personal revelation and answer our questions, we just have to come to him. Sometimes we have to be specific in order to get specific answers. If we ask for blessings, we will be blessed, but if we ask for specific blessings we will be able to be blessed in specific and meaningful ways. (I especially liked 1 Ne 10:17)
I am so grateful to be a missionary and I am so glad to hear from all of you!
Easton in Canada-I think I mentioned last week that I was a little sick. Well that little sick turned into a lot of sick Tuesday morning and hasn't let go until today. I was invited/commanded to stay inside and get better. Sigh. So the week was pretty slow. Not a lot happens when you are stuck in the apartment.
I will end with a spiritual thought. This week in my studies I got rebuked pretty hard by the Spirit. I had woke up feeling worse and really miserable and I started to murmur in my head. "Why am I STILL sick? I am supposed to be working hard and out teaching? Why is this happening?" I couldn't understand why this was happening to me. I was reading in Alma 20 which talks about Aaron and his brethren's mission experience. (verses 28-30, talking about the terrible afflictions they suffered...)
As I read this I thought about the trials they endured. Compared to them my sore throat and cough were completely laughable. Here I was complaining about my life and how "hard" it was when these missionaries had it MUCH worse and "nevertheless they were patient in all their sufferings." I had to take a step back and repent for being so selfish. I had no right to complain. God is so good to me and I was not being grateful for what I had. So now every time I am about to complain about how hard it is to be sick, I remember to be patient in all my trials, because it could be much much worse.
FAMILY UPDATES
Skylar got his Eagle. Mom would have loved being there for that! Thanks to Monta for the picture.

Cara sent cute Halloween pictures...
There was a bit of a Peter Pan theme going on--Tinkerbell, John, Peter Pan, Wendy...plus a chef and an FBI agent.
(Notice: Barry is represented by the puppet in Amalie's hand...he went as "Tick Tock Croc"- the crocodile from Peter Pan...basically he dressed normal and had the crocodile puppet on his hand.)
A story from Katie-- Today we went to an aquarium. We first saw a crocodile and some snakes, and then walked over to a tank of fish. Emmeline pointed out some pretty big fish and told me, "I think that fish is a snake fish." I asked why and she said, "It's way long and has a pattern." Pretty smart!
Later I pointed out a catfish and told her what it was called. I asked her why she thought it was called a catfish, and she said, "The whiskers." It was just cool that she is old enough to observe things like that.
Later we saw a sawfish (a shark with a super long nose that looks like a saw), and I was pointing out its long nose. Then Emmeline said, "Just like a hummingbird. Maybe that is a hummingbird fish." I love the connections she's making!
also a picture from hospital trick or treating. Another theme. Cinderella, Prince Charming and the Fairy Godmother

If you don’t know Phineas & Ferb, you won’t get this at all. But honestly, it is the best show that Disney has ever made. EVER. I’ve been hoping to do this every year since 2010, but every year Sam has a beard (and Dr. Doofenshmirtz NEVER has a beard), so I kept putting it off. After filming wrapped in September, I was thrilled! I began all this planning, costume searching, fabric dying, bang cutting. And then. Then Sam was told they needed him for two quick make up shoot days. On November 1st and 2nd. And he needed to have his beard. I cried. Then I cursed the film department. Beard or not, there was no going back. I had bangs and costumes, we had to go forward.
Notice how spot on everything is, even the shoes. I realize Ferb is taller,
but Elijah has a thing with being “cool” and Phineas is the “cool” one. Seara walked around all day yelling, “Mom! Phineas and Ferb are …” It was hilarious. Every detail was thought of, down to [my] earrings. I even dyed my shoes yellow.

Jeny and Molly went to Noodles and Company for dinner with Robbie, Sami, and a couple of Robbie's friends. It was really fun because Robbie got this awesome coupon-type thing from his boss that made it so that we all got to eat there for free. We all got drinks, and then basically just sat down as they brought dish after dish after dish to us. Jeny explained it best: "Its like a buffet, but you get to keep the leftovers." Yeah, so we ended up getting like 12 huge bowls of pasta, 4 cookies, and drinks for free and just split all the different kinds of pasta among us all. It was awesome.

Guess that is all. As you can see, I have resorted to sealing pictures and information from blogs and facebook. It sure takes a lot longer to do that, but I have more info to share that way. Please send me stuff, folks!
Have a good week. Work hard, study hard, pray hard.
Carol
